چکیده
The autosomal recessive spastic ataxia of Charlevoix-Saguenay (ARSACS), presenting with spinocerebellar ataxia, dysarthria, nystagmus, and paraparesis, is a gradually progressive hereditary disease. Sensorimotor polyneuropathy may also accompany the symptoms. Herein, we present electrophysiologic findings Turkish family ARSACS in combination clinical genetic features to better describe characteristics ARSACS. Regarding findings, however, demyelinating were prominent there compatible secondary axonal degeneration. Rare diseases such as must be suspected presence polyneuropathies accompanying pyramidal ataxia.

Autosomal recessive spastic ataxia of Charlevoix-Saguenay.
A new syndrome of autosomal recessive spastic ataxia has been isolated in the Charlevoix-Saguenay region of Quebec. This syndrome is remarkably homogeneous and includes: spasticity, dysarthria, distal muscle wasting, foot deformities, truncal ataxia, absence of sensory evoked potentials in the lower limbs, retinal striation reminiscent of early Leber's atrophy and the frequent presence (57%) of...

Autosomal recessive spastic ataxia of Charlevoix-Saguenay (ARSACS) is an early-onset, neurodegenerative disorder caused by mutations in SACS, firstly reported in Quebec, Canada. The disorder is typically characterized by childhood onset ataxia, spasticity, neuropathy and retinal hypermyelination. The clinical picture of patients born outside Quebec, however, is often atypical. In the present ar...

We present findings on MR imaging in 5 patients with autosomal recessive spastic ataxia of Charlevoix-Saguenay (ARSACS). In the literature, early atrophy of the superior vermis as well as progressive atrophy of the cerebellar hemispheres and cervical cord was described. We found linear hypointensity on T2 and T2 fluid-attenuated inversion recovery-weighted images in the pons in all of our 5 pat...
متن کاملA Probable Korean Case of Autosomal Recessive Spastic Ataxia of Charlevoix-Saguenay.
Autosomal recessive spastic ataxia of Charlevoix-Saguenay (ARSACS) has been identified in diverse countries. However, outside of North America, North Africa, and Europe, ARSACS was recognized only in the Japanese population. Moreover, through genetic research, the disease is thought to exhibit no founder effect, except in the Quebec descent. Therefore, it is possible that ARSACS might be undere...
متن کاملInner Retinal Dysfunction in the Autosomal Recessive Spastic Ataxia of Charlevoix-Saguenay
The autosomal recessive spastic ataxia of Charlevoix-Saguenay (ARSACS) is associated with structural retinal abnormalities either directly visible on funduscopy or revealed by optical coherence tomography (OCT). Most patients with ARSACS have a whitish peripapillary appearance corresponding to a thickening of the peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer. OCT has also shown an absence of the phys...
